Was jetzt?
The commission investigating the oil-for-food program in Iraq reported Tuesday that Secretary General Kofi Annan had not influenced the awarding of a contract to the company that employed his son. But it faulted him for not looking more aggressively into the company’s relationship with the United Nations once questions were raised.
The panel also criticized two of Mr. Annan’s closest advisers, Iqbal Riza and Dileep Nair, for their conduct.
Ich will die Euphorie über die Freisprechung wirklich nicht brechen, aber das ist ein Versagen Annans auf ganzer Linie. Mal angenommen, es wäre nicht um Annan, sondern Bush gegangen und nicht um Iqbal Riza und Dileep Nair, sondern um Miss Rice und Mister Rumsfeld. Könnte dann Bush auf die Frage nach seinem Rücktritt wirklich mit einem »Hell, no.« davon kommen? Sollte er?

Alles doch nicht rosa, was? Könnte irgendwer endlich Verantwortung für all die Desaster der UNO übernehmen? Ich hätte da auch jemanden im Sinne…
In the report, the committee was harshest in its judgment of Mr. Annan’s son, Kojo, 31, and the Geneva-based company he worked for, Cotecna Inspection Services. It said they both conspired to conceal the duration of their business and professional relationship and that the younger Mr. Annan deceived his father about it. In addition, it said he had been uncooperative with the Volcker panel’s investigators.
Das ist süss. Alles was ich daraus schliesse, ist dass Kofi ein schlechter Vater war, sein Sohn ihn nun verarscht hat und dabei reich geworden ist. Oder würde einer von euch für ein paar hunderttausend Dollar seinen Dad so vorführen? Nicht dass es wenig Geld wäre, aber neue Väter kann man nicht kaufen.

Chinese Ambassador to the United Nations Wang Guangya called on member states on Tuesday to continue supporting UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan in his work.
Wang told Xinhua that it is very significant the secretary general was cleared of any personal wrongdoing in the oil-for-food corruption scandal, saying people should no longer focus all their attention on the secretary general.
Gut, dass wir darüber gesprochen haben. Annan ist ja nur der Kopf einer Organisation welche Massenmorde überwachte und Food-for-Sex-Programme betrieb. Der kann ja nix für!

Zu den Desastern der UNO gehört auch zivile Verwaltung im Kosovo UNMIK. Gelegentlich liest man darüber, meistens wird das Thema allerdings wie alle Tätigkeitsfelder der UNO nicht kritisch hinterfragt.

Wer anderer als Kofi Annan trägt die Verantwortung für dieses Parasitentum? Jeder der nur minimale Insiderkenntnisse in UN Missionen hat, kennt unzählige solche Beispiele.
Wer erinnert sich ZB. noch als dem afghanischen Minister Ramazan Bashardoost 2004 der Kragen geplatzt ist.

Kofi Annan? Die Lichtgestalt weiß von nichts. Sein Name ist Hase. Die Unschuld vom Lande. vermutlich ist ihm auch neu, daß sein Freund Sergio Vieira de Mello (der später in Bagdad durch eigenen Leichtsinn getötet wurde) jahrelang damit beschäftigt war, seine sodomitischen (oh Mann) und päderastischen Blauhelme in Ost Timor zu decken. Freunde erzählen sich doch sonst alles mögliche. Hier offenbar nicht.
