Der demokratische Tsunami zieht weiter
Tens of thousands of opposition supporters shouted insults at Syria and demanded the resignation of their pro-Syrian government in a Beirut demonstration Monday, marking a week since the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

Some in the crowd yelled “Syria out!” and “We don’t want a parliament that acts as a doorkeeper for the Syrians,” competing with loud insults shouted against Syrian President Bashar Assad.

Many held pictures of Hariri and sang patriotic songs. Some protesters held a copy of the Quran in one hand and the cross in another hand to signify Muslim-Christian national unity.

On the way, the protesters marched by the nearby Grand Serail, the prime minister’s office, shouting “Syria out!” and “We don’t want an army in Lebanon except that of Lebanon!”
Na also, geht doch. Bush ruft auch zu einem »Ende der Besatzung« auf und viel länger wird Syrien ihre Truppen im Libanon nicht halten können. Es ist auch schön Leute im arabischen Raum zu sehen, die für Freiheit marschieren.
Das wäre also dann die dritte Demokratie im Nahen Osten (wenn man Palästina ‘mal aussen vor lässt), welche unter der Präsidentschaft eines Cowboys aus Texas geboren wird.
Was kann man da schon machen, als Europäer, der immer alles besser weiss, aber nie etwas besser macht? Ja, genau: Man fährt nach Mainz und brüllt »Bush ist ein Faschist!«
Ach ja, noch etwas: Wo sind die Helden die »Stop The Occupation« schreien, wenn die Amerikaner ein Land befreien wo es sich im Libanon tatsächlich um eine Besatzung handelt? Und wo sind die Nicht-Antisemiten (also die, welche es im zweiten Satz behaupten müssen, weil man es sonst nicht merkt) welche die israelische »Besatzung« der palästinensischen Gebiete »kritisieren«?
