Vor auf den Tag genau vor 13 Jahren verliess uns der einzigartigste Frontmann den eine Rock-Band je hatte. Freddie Mercury starb, von 6jähigem AIDS-Leiden geschwächt, an einer Lungenerzüngen.

Die Welt vorlor ihn einen grandiosen Musiker und eine der grössten Rock-Bands aller Zeiten: Queen. Er schrieb den Jahrhundertsong Bohemian Rhapsody wie auch einen der meist gespielten Songs aller Zeiten, We Are The Champions und jagte mit seinem atemberaubendem Duett Barcelona mit Opern-Diva Caballé jedem kalte Schauer über den Rücken!

Egal ob er am Klavier sass, oder die Stadien mit dem Rock-Teil von Bohemian Rhapsody zum beben brachte, eine solche »Publikumskontrolle« war einzigartig. Mit seinen Kollegen von Queen, stahlen sie eigenhändig die Show beim Live Aid wo sie sich entgültig in den Olymp musizierten.

Den wohl besten Tribute hat er sich mit Queen zusammen selbst geschrieben, The Show Must Go On:
